Tidy Up Together Multiplayer
Invite friends online, split the wreckage, and keep Dragon from becoming a silent grind.
The Together in the title is not flavor. Malum Games shipped Tidy Up Together with online co-op and a store-page promise that you can invite as many friends as you like. Steam’s own category list is Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op, and Online Co-op. That is the fact this page is built on. It is not local split-screen, and it is not a Roblox server browser.
You can still play every shop solo. The game is designed to be pleasant alone. Co-op is the optional amplifier: faster clears, less dead walking, and someone to laugh at when a greatsword is sitting in the fruit. Launch reviews that liked the game almost always mentioned friends. Reviews that bounced often played the mid shop alone and felt the two-percent coin drip.
How invites work in practice
Use Steam’s normal overlay friends list to join or invite. The store page does not publish a custom lobby code system, and this wiki will not invent one. If a friend cannot see your session, confirm the game is the Malum Games title (app 4950470), not Mall: Tidy Up Together or another August tidy game, then confirm both of you are on the same build.
Once you are in a shop together, the verbs do not change. Everyone walks, grabs, and places. The skill is social, not mechanical. Decide roles before you scatter:
- Runners roam the floor and feed stacks to a shelf specialist.
- Shelf owners stand in one category wing and only place.
- Lost-and-found uses highlight-style abilities, once unlocked, to finish stragglers.
That split matters more as shops grow. On Wyrmling you can ignore it and still finish with tea. On Dragon a two-person split already feels like a different game. On Leviathan a group is the difference between a weekend activity and a 20-hour dare.
What co-op does not fix
Co-op does not add a PvP mode. If you want competitive shelving, you are looking at a different Steam title with a similar name. Co-op does not unlock auto-shelf. Co-op does not make coins arrive faster than the two-percent tick; it just means more hands are emptying the floor so the next tick comes sooner. Co-op does not remove tight hitboxes. Four people can still miss the same bottle.
Voice chat is whatever you already use. The press kit points at a studio Discord. Steam overlay chat exists. This wiki will not tell you to install a third-party cheat or script. There are no scripts here.
When to invite
Invite for the demo if you want to test netcode and politeness before you spend. Invite for Wyrmling if your friends are new to the genre; it is the onboarding floor. Invite for Dragon if you already bounced on the mid-shop pace. Invite for Leviathan unless you specifically want the no-skills or 20-hour badges as a solo story.
A good first co-op night:
- Everyone reads how to play so you share a matching rule.
- One person hosts Wyrmling even if some of you already cleared it. Teaching is cheaper than arguing in Leviathan.
- After the floor is clean, spend coins with the upgrade order so you do not all dump points into the same dead end.
- Only then open Dragon or Leviathan.
If someone has to leave, save. Steam Cloud is listed. The shop will still be there. The shop checklist helps a returning friend see what the group already finished.
Etiquette that actually helps
Do not steal a stack from a shelf owner who is mid-place. Do not scatter a sorted pile to “help.” Call out rare categories so the specialist can walk to you. If the cat is in someone’s way, pause and pet it so the hidden achievement is not the only thing you forget.
Malum Games is a small UK studio. If online sessions break after a patch, check Steam events and the Discord linked from the review rather than assuming the wiki can patch your NAT.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Tidy Up Together local co-op?
Steam lists online co-op, not split-screen. Play together over the internet. Solo is fully supported if nobody is online.
How many friends can I invite?
The store page says as many as you like. It does not publish a hard party cap. If a session refuses a join, compare builds and confirm the app ID.
Do we share skill unlocks?
Treat upgrades as per-player until a patch says otherwise. Plan spends with the ability planner so the group is not all walking the same dead upgrade.
Should we start on Leviathan together?
No. Teach the loop on Wyrmling, then move up. Leviathan is the friendship test, not the tutorial.
